- Enter the business's entity number and choose the option to appoint a new agent.
- Enter the agent's details exactly as provided.
- An authorized representative signs for the business. The agent signs the acceptance.
- Pay and submit.
- Confirm the public record shows the change.
Who signs for the business
Someone with authority: for an LLC, generally a member, manager, or other authorized person; for a corporation, an officer; for a nonprofit, an authorized officer. ORC 1706.09(K) requires an authorized representative of an LLC to sign.
What gets filings rejected
- A P.O. box or mailbox-store address.
- A missing acceptance signature.
- An agent name that does not match the signature on the acceptance.
- A company agent named without the entity ending it is registered under.
- An entity number that does not match the business name.
Appointing us
Sign up, order statutory agent service, and e-sign the consent. Our portal shows you the exact entries for the state's form. If you would rather not file it yourself, ask us to do it. The agent name on Ohio's forms is our legal name, not this site's brand name.
Questions
Does the appointment take effect the day I file?
It goes on record when the Secretary of State processes it. That usually takes several business days without a paid rush, so plan around that if your current agent is leaving.
Do I need to send the state anything every year to keep my agent?
No annual filing is required for ordinary LLCs and corporations. You just have to keep the record accurate if something changes.
