Filling in the agent section
- Agent name. Use the agent's exact legal name, with an entity's exact ending. A trade name can trip this up.
- Address. An Ohio street address, with suite if any. No P.O. box.
- Acceptance. The agent signs and accepts the appointment. Online, follow the portal's instructions for the signature.
Get this in place before you file
The agent has to agree before you submit. If you are using a commercial service, sign up first so the service knows your company's name and can match mail that arrives before you've finished setting up. Enter the exact name you are filing under.
Naming us
Sign up, order statutory agent service for the planned business name, and sign the consent. Your portal shows the entries to use for Ohio's agent section. Our agent address is 3416 Erhart Road, Litchfield, Ohio 44253. If you would rather have us do the whole thing, order formation instead. It covers name check, articles, and filing for $100 plus the state fee.
A note on your principal office
The agent address and the company's own address are different entries. Listing us as your agent does not make our address your principal office, and we are not a mailing address for your general business.
Questions
Can I form the company now and pick an agent later?
No. The state rejects articles without a named agent and a signed acceptance. You can change the agent later on Form 521 once the company exists.
What if my chosen name is taken?
Your filing would be rejected. Search first, and consider a name reservation if you need time.
